During the Management/Layout phase of the document lifecycle, users may collaborate on or approve documents, adding to them and moving them through the organization manually or automatically to a document management system or line-of-business application based on rules relating to their content. An example is a scanned invoice that is sent to a document management system and routed for approval to a manager who approves it and moves it to the next stage of a process.
