The Canon imageRUNNER 3530 is a 35-ppm digital multifunctional B&W device that is engineered to support busy, medium-size offices and departments within larger corporations. The imageRUNNER 3530, a modular system, can be configured to suit the specific printing, copying, scanning, faxing and document storage needs of any medium-sized corporate department. Additionally, the imageRUNNER 3530 is an extremely compact, cost-effective system that small businesses can rely on to achieve more without exhausting budgets.

The Canon imageRUNNER 3530 can help your organization produce high-quality digital copies with greater confidence. The imageRUNNER 3530 captures images at true 600 x 600 dpi resolution and produces high-quality output for both text and images––equivalent to 1200 x 600 dpi for copying and 2400 x 600 dpi for printing, with 256 gradations of gray.
When it comes to paper handling, the Canon imageRUNNER 3530 offers users a variety of choices:
- Dual 550-sheet paper cassettes for 1,100 Sheets.
- A 50-sheet Stack Bypass brings the standard paper capacity to 1,150 sheets.
- An optional Dual 550-sheet Cassette Feeding Unit to a maximum of 2,250 sheets.
The Canon imageRUNNER 3530 offers several document management and distribution options. Once the imageRUNNER 3530 is configured with an optional print controller, it can be used as a scanner to convert hardcopy to electronic images. The imageRUNNER 3530 also offers several levels of document scanning functionality; TWAIN scanning via Canon’s Network ScanGear, Super G3 Faxing, and IKON DocSend™.
- TWAIN Scanning via Canon’s Network ScanGear – Network ScanGear is a great tool for small offices and workgroups with light scanning requirements. This 32-bit TWAIN-compliant scanner driver is bundled free-of-charge with the UFR II Printer Kit-E3 and UFR II/PCL Printer Kit-E2, allowing users to capture documents from the platen or DADF for transmission over the network back to the desktop.
- Super G3 Faxing (Requires optional Printer Kit) – One Super G3 fax line (33.6Kbps) may be added to communicate over the public telephone network with the addition of the Super G3 Fax Board-Q1. This option comes bundled with the Canon Fax Driver to enable PC faxing, fax forwarding, plus a 200-entry address book for storing frequently dialed numbers.
- IKON DocSend™ – allows users to scan pages and preview them on a full-sized screen as thumbnails or full-page images. Edits, enhancements and annotations can be made at the IKON DocSend workstation (including changes to document characteristics such as size, orientation, color and compression). Documents can then be sent to multiple sources, including: e-mail addresses, FTP sites, fax machines/fax servers, connected MFP's (Multi-Functional Products), or your organization's existing document management systems.
With the threat to data security on the rise, taking action to improve security measures is no longer an option. Protecting your intellectual property and other sensitive business documents is vital to your organization’s success. The Canon imageRUNNER 3530 is equipped with a number of technologies to control system access and protect data and intellectual property:
- Department ID Mode – Limits access to users assigned valid IDs and 7-digit passwords. Administrators can set volume ceilings up to 999,999 impressions and restrict or enable access to copy functions for up to 300 departments or users. When the UFR II Printer Kit-E3 or UFR II/PCL Printer Kit-E2 is attached, users can also track print and scan totals for each department. An optional Control Card/Card Reader system with up to 200 cards is also available to manage usage through the use of intelligent cards that must be inserted in the system before granting access to functions.
- Local Data Storage/Security – When the Mail Box capability is activated, documents stored in Mail Boxes can be password protected for basic security.
- imageRUNNER Security Kit-A2 – Some companies and government agencies require greater protection for files stored on the device. When configured with the optional imageRUNNER Security Kit-A2, the imageRUNNER 3530 offers these features to protect sensitive data:
- Hard Disk Drive Encryption – All data written to the hard disk is first encrypted and then stored, further protecting the content of documents stored in Mail Boxes.
- Hard Disk Drive Complete Erase – Permanently deletes all file data after the job is completed. Customers can choose from three levels of erasure: writing a null value once, writing a random value once, or writing a random value three times to make it impossible to properly reconstruct files.
- Removable Hard Disk Drive – The Canon imageRUNNER 3530 has an option that enables the physical removal of the HDD from the main unit for the ultimate in data protection.

| Application & Environment |
The Canon imageRUNNER 3530 supports basic digital copying and the ability to add mail box features, network printing, scanning, and fax capabilities. Operating at 35 pages-per-minute, the Canon imageRUNNER 3530 is an ideal device for busy, medium-size offices and departments within larger corporations that require a dependable print and/or copy solution with basic finishing options such as stapling, sorting, and hole-punching, but do not require advanced multifunctional features.
Included among these work environments are:
- A single-practitioner professional (doctor, lawyer, or accountant) office searching for an affordable replacement to aging analog and single-function equipment.
- A large corporate entity with dozens if not hundreds of branch locations seeking to install a fleet of identical, easy-to-use, basic multifunctional printers across the entire organization.
- A growing yet cost-conscious home-based business.
- A state or local government agency or school district.
- A frustrated workgroup that is tired of walking down the hall for every copy, fax, and printed page.
- A corporate workgroup that just needs to print black-and-white documents efficiently with basic stapling.
The Canon imageRUNNER 3530 is an exceptionally environmentally-sensitive device. The device features Canon’s award-winning RAPID Fusing System™ which assures almost instantaneous warm-up times and keeps energy consumption at a minimum when in operation. Additionally, the imageRUNNER 3530 complies with the EPA’s Energy Star® guidelines, saving resources and operational costs.

| Features: |
Benefits: |
| Scan-Once-Print-Many (SOPM) Technology |
Originals are scanned only once…and multiple copies are produced from memory, leaving you free to perform other tasks while the system completes the job. Saves wear and tear on the originals as well as the document feeder and scanner. Reduces jams and operational noise, too. |
| Automatic Trayless Duplexing |
Duplexed pages do not need to be stacked in a separate cassette. As a result, the iR 3530 can deliver two-sided output at full rated engine speed. |
|
Vertical Paper Path
|
Shortens the distance paper travels through the system, cutting down on misfeeds and paper jams. |
|
RAPID Fusing System™
|
Dramatically reduces energy consumption costs while virtually eliminating long warm-up periods typically associated with conventional solutions. |

Job Build
|
Lets you scan up to five copy jobs—complete with their settings—into memory while a current copy or print job is being processed. Users can be notified via E-mail when their copy job is complete and ready for pick-up. |
|
Copy Reservation
|
Easily combine documents scanned through the document feeder with those directly placed on the platen glass. Also allows users to process jobs that exceed the capacity of the document feeder. |
| Energy Star™ Compliant
|
Meets the EPA’s energy efficiency standard by reducing power consumption when idle. |
| NetSpot® Suite |
A group of software utilities designed to ease the administrative burdens associated with installing, monitoring, and managing networked devices. |
| Remote UI™ |
Allows users to control print jobs and network administrators to monitor system status and configuration from any desktop—using only a standard Web browser. |
| imageRUNNER Security Kit |
A software package that initiates the overwriting of hard disks and completely erases previously stored data, safeguarding critical information and protecting confidential corporate data. |
|
Super G3 Fax Technology (Optional)
|
Transmits data at 33.6 Kbps (approx. 3 seconds per page)—faster than ordinary G3 fax machines. |
