What is Sustainability?
Environmental sustainability is the practice of minimizing negative environmental impact wherever and whenever possible while remaining profitable.
For more than three decades Ricoh has led the office automation industry in creating innovative products and processes that promote environmental sustainability. Specifically Ricoh solutions are designed to:
- Optimize energy efficiency
- Maximize recyclability
- Use materials resourcefully
- Control environmentally sensitive substances
- Maintain air quality
- Prevent pollution
Protecting the Environment
- Save energy
Ricoh devices are designed to maximize energy efficiency during operation and idle time, which reduces carbon dioxide emissions. Energy Saver Mode dramatically reduces the system's energy consumption when not in use. Quick Start-up Technology allows systems to switch back to normal operation in just a few seconds, so user productivity is not compromised.
Toner reduction mode preserves image quality for certain applications while minimizing use of toner. Ricoh also offers a number of solutions geared toward consolidating and optimizing the fleet.
- Reduce resource consumption
Many Ricoh software solutions help redirect jobs to the most appropriate output device. Chargeback and cost recovery software discourages waste by adding a layer of accountability. Other tools allow administrators to compel users to use duplex printing, toner-saving mode and other environmentally friendly features.
Some solutions enable organizations to remove paper form workflows entirely, accomplishing the same work through electronic means. IKON also provides consultative services that can help improve processes, remove redundancy and increase efficiency. To divert waste from landfills, Ricoh uses recycling programs and de-manufacturing facilities.
- Ricoh technology
Designed for maximum energy efficiency to help reduce energy costs and support CO2 emissions reduction goals.
Includes features that maintain user productivity and minimize workflow interruptions, reducing the risk of Energy Saver Mode override.
100% of Ricoh MFPs and the majority of Ricoh printers and fax systems meet 2007 ENERGY STAR qualifications for minimum energy conversation.
Default system settings switch quickly to Energy Saver Mode and promote duplex output.
Quick Start-Up Technology (available for B/W MFPs) cuts warm up time from Energy Saver Mode to 10 to 15 seconds, maintaining productivity.
Ricoh provides environmental impact measurements for systems to support internal campaigns aimed at device consolidation.
Many systems are equipped to handle recycled paper.
Ricoh equipment is managed to control, minimize and eliminate volatile organic compounds and environmentally sensitive substances in accordance with RoHS and Ricoh internal standards.
Ricoh has been recognized by the Financial Times, EcoValue 21 and the World
Economic Forum for dedication to sustainability and environmental conservation.
Ricoh has been named one of the "Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World" for five consecutive years.
